In Memory of Bob Tobey

Bob Tobey was a lifelong scouter from Billerica. He started as a youth member of Troop 90, served as a den leader and Cubmaster in Pack 54, and finally spent time first as Assistant Scoutmaster then Scoutmaster of Troop 11. A reluctant leader, he wouldn’t say no to helping the youth he guided. Between roundtables and adult training, he would happily give his time and knowledge to help other adults learn to guide the youth of Greater Lowell.

Bob’s best memories were his two trips to Philmont, once as a youth and again with his two sons as an adult. During his time at Wah-Tut-Ca as one Troop 11's adult leaders, he made sure kids still had time for fun while balancing parents' needs for advancement. Somehow he still made time to sneak around camp, quietly making repairs and helping out. The only recognition he needed was a pat on the back and a coffee cup at the end of the week. He was a friend of the staff, and always made adults and staff alike at ease while checking up on his Scouts.

To honor Bob, feel free to make a donation to Lantern Light Camps at the Wah-Tut-Ca Reservation in his memory.
