Three two-week sessions in July & August 2021
Creative Expressions | Lantern Light Camps is a resident camp for children and young adults who have an interest in and love of the creative arts. This camp is an excellent choice for families seeking a friendly, safe, outdoor environment for their kids to explore their interests in fine and visual arts, theater, and rock music. It is also a traditional summer camp with swimming, boating, sports and archery.
The program and experiences are designed for children and young adults 10-16 years of age. The camp program develops creativity by supporting and encouraging interests and skills in multiple art forms. The program allows for the camper to explore new areas of expression as well as developing their own talents.
Lantern Light Creative Camp offers opportunities for novice beginners as well as more experienced artists to develop their interests and skills.
Studio & Workshop Programs
Express yourself in one or more studios and workshops
Young Artists can choose to select multiple studios and workshops or can develop a personal schedule to concentrate on a specific art of interest.
All the studios & workshops are open daily. They are staffed by talented teaching artists.
From beginners to the most serious young artists, all of our programs are designed to meet every camper at his or her own level.
ART STUDIOS
The Creative Expressions Art Studios provide opportunities in dozens of mediums. Campers can explore new art forms as well as refine and develop existing skills. Throughout their session, young artists build an art portfolio made up of completed projects. In addition, there are several collaborative, camper lead group projects. The two-week session ends with an open to the public art show.
ROCK & MODERN MUSIC STUDIOS

The Rock and Modern Music Studio is an exciting program for novice as well as experienced guitarists, drummers, keyboard and bass players. Our individual-choice philosophy meets every young musician at his or her own level. We give space and time to refine their skills and explore new instruments and styles. They learn about new music from friends and share the music they love. Our campers are encouraged to write songs or song lyrics, and camper bands are constantly forming to arrange, refine, and record camper-written material. Everyone who participates contributes to an Audio Year Book.
PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP
Great photography is about visual story telling. Creative Expressions Photography Workshops allow everyone opportunities to tell digital stories. Novice and experienced photographers develop interest and skills through practical and creative programs. Throughout their session they build a portfolio chronicling their adventures on daily photographic safaris. The two-week session ends with an open to the public showing of their works.
THEATER Â & STAGE WORKSHOP
The Creative Expressions Theatre Workshop is for campers with interests on stage and behind the stage. During each two-week session, campers will work on the three disciplines of musical theatre (music, acting, and dance) on a daily basis through classes and workshops with working industry professionals from NYC. Theatre Workshop Campers will also get the opportunity to perform in a full-length, fully staged musical to be performed at the end of the two-week session. Whether your camper has just caught the theatre bug, or is no stranger to the stage, this is the camp for them!
Traditional Summer Camp Programs
This is Your Summer
In addition to the creative studios and workshops Lantern Light Camp has traditional summer camp programs and facilities. Artists/Campers have the opportunity to swim, boat, and fish at our waterfront on Northwood Lake.
Every day we offer a different sporting activity or game after dinner. We have a large sports field for softball, volleyball, badminton, soccer, archery and many other team and individual sports. In keeping with our non-competitive orientation, the emphasis in our sports program is individual involvement, improvement of skills, and fun. Instruction is provided for all these activities
Each of our sleeping areas have small outdoor campfire rings. This allows for nightly social gatherings, singing, skits and other ad-hoc creative adventures.
